Mona Johannesson was born and raised in Aneby, Sweden. Growing up, she always had a love of horses. At an Equestrian Trial Event in Gothenberg, Mona, then fourteen, was spotted by a talent scout who approached her to consider modeling. Because of her desire to finish school, Mona modeled part time in her hometown before traveling the international circuit.

Mona immediately drew comparisons to Kate Moss. It was however, on a photo shoot for Fjords, a Swedish magazine, where Mona had created some of Kate’s most iconic poses, that the fashion world took notice.

Having arrived in London after her studies, Mona immediately caught the eye of Vogue’s fashion director, Lucinda Chambers, stylist Karl Templar, and top fashion photographers Patrick Demarchelier, Glen Luchford, and Laurie Bartley. She then made her first appearances in British and Italsian Vogue.

Since then, Mona has worked with many of the industry’s most renowned photographers including Mario Sorrenti, Mert & Marcus, Craig McDean, Paolo Reversi, Solve Sundsbo, David Sims, Patrick Demarchelier, Glen Luchford, Gilles Bensimon, Tom Munro, David Slijper, Michael Thompson, Inez van Lamsweerde & Vinoodh Matadin, Karl Lagerfeld, Vincent Peters, and Horst Dierkgarades.

Mona is featured regularly in top fashion magazines such as Vogue (Italian, British, French and Japanese), Numero, Pop, Elle, Mixte, and V. She can currently be seen on her first cover for 10 Magazine photographed by David Vasiljevic, and has starred in ad campaigns for Hugo Boss, TSE, Bulgari, Burberry, Costume National, Adidas, and is the face of Ungaro’s fragrance Fushia.

In addition, Mona is also a catwalk favorite on the international runway circuit for fashion houses such as Chanel, Zac Posen, Luella Bartley, Costume National, Sonya Rykiel, BCBG, Lacoste, LAMB, Benjamin Cho, Lela Rose, Rebecca Taylor, Nina Ricci, Barbara Bui, and Kenzo.

Despite her busy schedule, Mona continues to ride horses in her spare time. When asked about her plans for the future, she says, “Let’s see what happens. I take it day by day.”
